A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Hello incoming 9th grade AHS families,
AHS Open House (March 2) and AHS PTSA Meeting (March 9)
A reminder once again that Thursday evening is the American High School Open House. At 6:00 in our gym, we will have a presentation for incoming 9th grade parents and students. There are several presentations throughout the evening that may interest you. Please see the attached flyer and campus map. We hope to see you tomorrow.
We would also like to invite you to attend the next AHS PTSA meeting on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS Library. We welcome all new parents and students to join us!
Clarification of the registration forms
Thornton has informed us that there are some clarifications needed on the AHS 9th grade registration form. Please review these two clarifications.
Math class selection:
It has come to our attention that there is a misprint on the course registration form regarding the freshman math options for your student. Both Algebra 2/Trigonometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry H are not freshman math options for your incoming 9th grade student. The correct math course options are: Geometry/Foundational Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Accelerated Geometry/Algebra 2.
Math placement is made based on the FUSD guidelines. Please refer to the math letter attached to your student’s registration form regarding math placement for the 2017-2018 school year. You can also find additional information for the Fremont Unified School District Secondary Math Pathway flowchart on the American High School website under Academics -->Math.
Submission due date:
We have received calls from parents about the correct due date to submit the registration forms and residency verification items. These items are due on March 6 to MATH. March 9 is the day that AHS counselors will go to Thornton to collect these materials.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
