Important information for Students Attending Ohlone in the 2018-19 School Year

 

 

Ohlone Community College Important Dates to Remember

Ohlone Application Available Online in late February at www.ohlone.edu

 

 

Step 1:  Complete Ohlone College Application Online.  Need Help? Come to the Ohlone College Application Workshop on 

Thursday, March 1st, 11:00am, in the Career Center/Library.  Sign up on Naviance Family Connection (first come, first serve)

  • Because you will be enrolling at Ohlone after you receive a high school diploma, make sure to mark that you have already graduated from high school, even though you will still be in high school when you are completing the application.
  • If you need to show residency or citizenship documentation, please take it to the Ohlone Admissions & Records Office (Building 1, 1st floor).  You will need to show this documentation before your Ohlone Student ID # can be issued.
  • Once you complete your application, you will be emailed your Ohlone Student ID #.

 

Step 2:   Placement Test for English and Math

Take this test at American High School on Friday, March 23rd, 9:00am.  Sign-up in Career Center – You MUST apply to Ohlone before taking the placement test.  You MUST have your Ohlone student ID # & Photo ID on test day.    Bring proof of your assigned Ohlone Student ID# that you get after you applied.

 

Study guides are available on the Testing Center web site 

Students are strongly encouraged to review the study guides before taking the tests!

 

 

Step 3:  Attend Orientation AND Freshmen Day (HIGHLY Recommended)

This is your opportunity for Early Registration for your classes

 

Save the Date to attend one of these sessions

  • Friday, May 11 @ 3:30pm at the Ohlone College, Newark Campus.
  • Saturday, May 12 @ 9:00am OR 1:30pm at the Ohlone College, Newark Campus.
  • You must apply and take the placement test prior to attending orientation
  • You must RSVP for this event at http://www.ohlone.edu/org/freshmen/

*ALL high school seniors and their parents are invited to the Freshman Orientation at Ohlone. Ohlone will provide orientation information and workshops. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with counselors and register for classes.

 

 

 

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): DEADLINE March 2nd

 

Step 1: Go to https://fafsa.ed.gov/ and click on “Start A New FAFSA.”

Step 2: Enter your student information to create a login.

Step 3: Carefully go through the application questions and submit your application.

 

* It is important that you do this application with your parents, as you will need information such as parent birthdays, social security numbers, etc. Come see your counselor if you have any questions about financial aid eligibility.

 

Completing the Ohlone Online Application

  1. Go to the Ohlone home page: http://www.ohlone.edu
  2. Click on the “Web Advisor” link, located in the top right hand corner of the page.
  3. Click on “Apply for Admission Online.”
  4. Click on “Create an Account” and fill out questions to create your OpenCCC account.
  5. Go through the questions on each page of the Ohlone online application.  After each page is completed, click “Next” at the bottom of the screen to move to the next page.  If you don’t answer a question completely, you will be redirected to this question before proceeding to the next page.
  6. After completing the application, click on “Submit Completed Application.”

Registering for Classes at Ohlone using WebAdvisor

In order to register for classes via the Web, students must first get a Web Services Account: 

1.  Go to the Ohlone home page at http://www.ohlone.edu

2.  Click on the “WebAdvisor” link, located at the top right hand corner

3. Click on “Sign up for WebAdvisor access (It’s FREE!)”

4.  Under Step 2 on the displayed web page, click “I need an Ohlone College web services account.”

5.  Complete all required fields to create your own password and reminder.  Hit “Submit” to get ID for Web Services account.

 

  • You will receive an email confirmation of your request for a Web Advisor access, which will include your user name.  Usually this is emailed to you almost immediately. 
  • Once you have a user name, go back to the Ohlone home page (http://www.ohlone.edu) and click the “WebAdvisor” link in the upper right hand corner. 
  • You can then click the “Students” box at the right side of the page.  
  • Next you can click on “Log In” and enter your User ID and Password, and hit “Submit.”
  • To sign up for classes, click “Register for Sections” under the “Registration listing.
  • You will then need to click “Search and Register for Sections.”

 

Other services available using WebAdvisor:

  • View class schedule
  • View placement test scores
  • Make a payment
  • Drop a class
  • Waitlist for a filled class
  • Select preferred classes before registration
