The first official day of practice for the winter season begins on Monday, November 6th.

Boys Basketball Service Learning Opportunities

AHS Boys Basketball is looking for students interested in earning service learning hours as videographers and scorekeepers at boys basketball games. If interested, please contact coach Ed Villatoro at

A Note from Coach Villatoro

Boys Basketball tryouts for the Freshman, JV and Varsity basketball teams begin on Monday, November 7.

All necessary forms needed to tryout can be found on the athletics home page of School Loop. Follow the steps posted on the athletics page of School Loop. Please complete and turn in all forms by Friday, October 28. Turn in necessary forms to Athletic Director Brian Hashimoto or Athletic Director Ken Peffer in Office B.

All athletes intending to tryout need to complete a valid physical for the current school year. You need to provide signature and office stamp from your physician with your physical documents. Kaiser physicals are valid for 2 years, but you still need to provide the proof of valid physical with signature and stamp. We highly suggest that you schedule your physical as soon as possible.

Student-athletes are not cleared to try out unless they have submitted all necessary information by October 28. If the student-athlete does not make the final roster, the donation checks may be picked up in Office B. If the student-athlete is currently on a fall sport roster at AHS (football, water polo or cross country) you do not need to submit another physical but you do need to complete another signature page.

In order to be academically eligible to try out for boys basketball, the student-athlete must complete the first academic quarter with a minimum 2.0 grade point average with no F grades.

Open gyms will begin in late September for student-athletes that are not currently participating in a fall sport. If you have any questions concerning the necessary forms, eligibility or the tryout process, please contact Coach Ed Villatoro at
