D. Thorsen

I am Deborah Thorsen, and this is my seventh year teaching at American High School, but my twelfth year teaching over all.  I am a challenging teacher, but I love my job and my students.  The greatest joy in my professional life is seeing my students reach their academic goal and professional pursuits.  Because of that, I take my job very seriously and challenge my students to do and be more than they expected for themselves.  However, I also have very high standards for myself as a teacher.  In order to spend more time with my family and maintain my expectations for myself, I am teaching part time and will be completing my school day at lunch.  I understand that these may be inconvenient, but I will do my best to make myself available before school and during lunch to help meet student needs.  I look forward to working and progressing together throughout the year.
